Pulse oximeter prices

If anyone needs a Pulse Oximeter for home use let me tell you about the one I purchased. Last year my husband was very ill, in and out of ICU for several weeks because of end-stage emphysema. He would be coming home on continuous O2 24/7. But, the providers of home oxygen equipment do not provide a PO to monitor O2 sats. We were expected to "guess" at how my hubby was doing and adjust the O2 based on this. So, I did some searching on the internet and found a PO for less than $100.00 (actually $75.00). I ordered it, took it to the hospital and checked it against POs in ICU. Did this a number of times and it was right on the money every single time. The nurses and resp tx were amazed at the quality and price. We have now used it for a year and it stays constant and accurate. Two days ago the RN-NP was here to see Cliff and we checked the PO against her $400.00+ model. Right on. I know at least 2 PTs and one home health nurse who also purchased the POs and have been well pleased. The website for anyone interested: www.portablenebs.com. It comes with a carrying case and we were not charged shipping.

Good ole internet!

What did we do before we could find anything on the internet? It certainly has opened doors to us, and made finding the best product at a good price a reality to the masses! I'm so glad you found such a reliable Pulse Oximeter for a fraction of the cost! One victory for the consumer eh? I'm sure it also bought you peace of mind in checking your hubby's O2 stats, without having to guess his status! Thanks for the info Sharon!

Love the internet!

Bambi - I would be completely lost without the internet like so many people! If mine slows down a little or acts "quirky" I go into a panic. It sure opens up an entirely different world, doesn't it? None of us in this club would have met had it not been for the internet! Take care.

Oximeter

I have one one of the low cost oximeters also and have found the same thing. The difference in price has to do with FDA approval for life support use. My experience is that they are no better or more reliable..just more paperwork.
