Excessive sweating

I noticed some comments regarding excessive sweating. I have had a pacemaker since 1999 with a replacement in 2006. I am also on Toprol and Lisinopril, take thyroid replacement and supplemental potassium. I have experienced facial and scalp sweating for quite some time. It is excessive to the point of actually dripping from both my forehead and my hair. It is most embarassing as it can happen at any time (shopping, social event, etc.) Does anyone out there have a similar problem and what are you doing about it. My doctors just shrug their shoulders.

Night Sweats and Hot Flashes

by Roxanne - 2008-11-10 10:11:27

Depending on age and your sex sweating can be from hormones or lack of. I have gone through menopause and still have night sweats and hot flashes at the age of 63. Some of my ladie friends still suffer in their 80's, some also have pacemakers. I have read that Sarcoidosis can cause sweating. It is believed that Sarcoidosis in my lymph glands caused my heart block. I don't think anyone knows for sure, but you would think there is a medical person out there that would know. During menopause drinking soy milk did help at this time it doesn't seem to make a difference. Hopefully one of these days someone will be able to find the answer.

Ohmygod... you are describing the symptoms my mother has had for years... to a T.

They have done round after round of tests on her, but have never been able to diagose her or give her any sort of medical treatment that would bring relief.

Have you ever found anything that would help ??

Thanks for Sharing,

Same Symptoms

Have had excessive sweating for years now and can find no answers as to why. My pacemaker was implanted in 2001 and I am also on Toprol, plus Verapamil. The sweating has caused much grief because there is just no cure for it, or so I am told. They can occur at any time and any place. I find it useless to style your hair, get dressed up or do anything that makes you feel good because in less than a minute everything is soaked with sweat. Sure is depressing and unless someone else has experiened this "great sweat", it is hard to explain. You just get..."Oh, it's menopause and I have them too!" I'm 71 and went through menopause when I was 29 following a hysterectomy. Let me assure you, it is nothing like that. I have become accustomed to them and have just learned to adjust to something that will never change. If anyone does have an answer and possibly a cure, other than "it's menopause and it will go away", it sure would be GREAT NEWS!

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
