TONING TABLES

Hi there

Does anyone have any advice regarding the use of toning tables...those wonderful machines ( electrically powered ) that tone up your muscles while you lie back and think of whatever ?

I have a dual chamber pacemaker and I am currently trying hard to lose weight. I would like to join my friends who are planning to use toning tables.

I am concerned there "could be" interference from the machines and/or I could risk damaging the PM leads or cause some more twitching.

Anyone have any advice ??

Kind regards

Maricarmen

I don't think they're a problem unless they have magnets. Just being near electronics is not an issue. If you're past six weeks and cleared for exercise, your leads will be fine.

it's up to you what you want to try, but there is no substitute for exercising. Your heart needs the exertion as much as your heart needs the toning. The heart is a muscle, too.

I dont know about toning tables and the pm, but I do know that they dont make you lose weight. They help to tone up muscle.

Fast walking is absolutely the best method to tone up and lose body fat. Building muscle will help your metabolism to speed up and enable you to eat more calories without putting weight on. Lean muscle burns as much as 16 times the calories as body fat does. For this you need to do resistance exercises, this can be as little as exercising with 2 cans of baked beans in your hands.

Healthy eating, and we all know what that is if we are totally truthful, drinking water and exercise will not only help you lose weight but will, as Tracey says, exercise your heart as well. Also, some of us do get our down days and exercise is a great way of releasing happy hormones into the brain.

Dont go too mad at once, just build up your walking over a period of time, running is great for cardio so will exercise your heart, but doe'snt burn fat.

Good luck HH
