Radar Gun

My son-in-law is a police officer and the other day he was showing me how fast they can lock in the speed with the radar gun (speed gun). I was standing next to the gun and started to feel weird. He turned the gun off and moved away and the feeling went away. We did it again (maybe not too smart, but I wanted to know if the radar gun did it or it was just me) - the same thing happend. Are there any police officers out there with pm's who have experienced the same or heard about it. I know it might be different when holding the gun and being behind it. We did not try that. It's just the weirdest things that can interfere.

I'm not a policeman, but I can see how a radar gun could cause a problem for your pacemaker. The microwave oven, which uses the same energy field as does a radar gun was invented in 1947 by a company named Raytheon and they called it "Radarrange." We have all heard how people receiving the early models of pacemakers were warned to stay away from microwaves ovens and even today we still see the warning signs "Microwave In Use" in some places. Thankfully our pacemakers today are shielded well enough that we are no longer constantly faced with that concern around microwaves ovens. However, while a pacemaker may be shielded well enough to be safe around a microwave oven, the power of a radar gun could very well overpower that shielding. I'm not an electronics expert by any means, but, as I said at the beginning, I can see how that radar gun could have caused you a problem.
The next time you get stopped for speeding by a policeman using a radar gun go into your best heart attack act when he approaches your car and tell him his radar gun has stopped your pacemaker from working, but give you a few minutes and things will return to normal. Of course if he happens to be using one of the newer laser guns, your act may be for naught.

Pacing 2- I lived your answer esp. about going into your act. Never forget in CA years ago & waiting at the shop for my car & this gentlemen warned me that if he didn't get his car soon (long wait for him) he was going to go into his act so I shouldn't get scared. I was a lot younger then. Funny!!
