Hi there - I had my first pm implanted in 1987 and my second one in 2004. They would not take my old leads out because of serious complications. so I now have 3 leads. You did not state in your correspondence whether your old lead was taken out. Going back to your question, yes i did experience muscle cramp for several weeks after implantation but lookily has now subsided exccept doing excercises that has not been done before, but the cramps only last for about 24 hours. Hope this has been of some use.

Hi there, I am 18 days post op and have experienced the same problem. I also have a burning sensation right where my arm meets my chest. It comes and goes. I see the EP nurse friday and hoped to find out when this will all subside. I hope you feel better soon belly!

Deeper in Muscle

Hi,
When the pacer is implanted in or under a muscle it is going to take a while for it to become comfortable. Remember a muscles job is to contract and move a part of the body. If you make a pocket in or under a muscle it is going to be painful when the muscle moves. It should clear up as the surgical inflammation subsides, but this can take 2 or 3 weeks. The problem is the moving muscle keeps irritating the site. Just remember the last time you cut a finger in an area that moves. How long does it take to heal and stop bing painful.
