Skipping beats

Hi everyone!

I've had my pacemaker for almost 6 years (when I was 15) and haven't had any problems but in the last 4 months or so I've been feeling my heart skipping beats alot. It happens almost every day and it's pretty uncomfortable. I'm really active and run all the time but it keeps happening. Last time I felt this I told my doctor and he said it was normal for it to beat irregularly sometimes and when I had my check up it didn't show anything weird. But it's been happening a lot lately, my check up is in March so I was going to wait until then to say anything but I was wondering if anyone has had this happen?

Thanks a lot, Taylor

Hi Taylor,
I am new to all this, had my pacemaker inolanted just 2 weeks ago. I felt ok the 1st few days but last monday started feeling like you that heart was beating irregularly, and having palpitations but not the same as b4 the p.m., no dizziness or lightheadiness.
Went to hospital to have p.m. chacked and was told everything was o.k!
Due for 1st proper check-up in coupla weeks, so like you am leavingit till then cos don't actually feel ill.
Will be interested to see what some of the "veterans" say
Best wishes Jan

Benign Palps

by Rodrigues - 2009-02-10 07:02:18

Hi Taylor/Jan,
first 4 to 5 months after PM implant was the same for me no symptoms, now 6 to 7 months down the line also starting to feel Palpitations which stop you dead in your tracks when you feel them.Like you I am a very active person and this palps are a pain in the *^#@!*^%^.
When I went to my Cardio he said it was just benign palps(not serious palps) just live with it.Hell no there must be some relieve for this so I've made an appointment to see a Professor in Electrophysicist (electrician of the heart) in April will keep this forum posted.
NB: I've searched this site on Palps, did not pick up any clue about what was done to relieve symptoms.
As Jan put it let the Veterans of this wonderful site guide us.
Many thanks again to this virtual family of wonderful people with tons of knowledge.

Cheers.
Francisco

Will do! Palpitations not as bad 2day. It's a vicious circle really. When you get the palp's you bcome concerned about them, this makes you anxious and then you are more likely to get them through stressing!
I go and do some baking or some puzzles to take my mind off it.
Best wishes Jan
