Bastille Day.

Hello Everyone.

Today in France, is Bastille day, our version of the 4th of July. Here is a little bit of history.

Bastille Day is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called "Fête Nationale" ("National Holiday"), in official parlance, or more commonly "quatorze juillet" ("14th of July"). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération, held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the storming of the Bastille was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern French "nation", and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

hope you had a happy day. you get to celebrate two holidays like us. we celebrate the 4th of july because even tho we are not american our holiday here is so close july 1st and my husband is at this time working there we feel we can celebrate both. we also live on the border and feel partially american. does this make sense? i know we are not but we have so many american friends and we feel we are much the same for sure. well all for now happy happy

Hi Dominique - This is one thing that is so wonderful about the Pacemaker Club. We are from all over the world and are learning something about other folks cultures, holidays, etc.. It is interesting and does truly bring the world together. Thanks for the posting.

yes she is from france but is an american living in colorado. her life there is good. she was born and raised in france. it is good to bring culture with you. that is why the u.s. and canada are so neat. we have multiculturism. maureen
