I was at the dentist last week and the hygienist asked if my pacemaker was coded. She want to use the sonic cleaning device on my teeth, but since I did not know, she did a manual cleaning. WHAT IS A CODED OR COATED PACEMAKER ?

I dont know whether it was coded or coated that she meant but I know here in the UK my hygienist wont use the ultrasonic cleaning because I have a PM.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.
I've not heard of that

And I'm due for a trip to the dentist this month. I hate the ultrasonic cleaning & would prefer a manual. Did you take antibiotics prior to your cleaning? This will be my first cleaning since getting my device in July. Did she say coded or coated? I still don't know what that would mean! Anybody?
