I too have taken Darvocette for years and years. at the most I take one or two a week. I never take more than one a day ( the only exception being after laminectomy years ago, and after I quit the codeine stuff) It never has bothered me before and always helps to knock down pain level and then I revert to the Tylenol thing. I read an interesting comment on another blog that there is an alernative drug they are pushing and that is why the FDA now decided it is "dangerous" Unfortunately, I do not know what it is... but we all know the big drug companies control our medications too much. I too will continue until this 'script runs out and maybe by then there will be a viable alternative. I also have heard the Tramadol route makes everyone a little groggy.

I will respond if I hear of any other like medication.

Darvocet

Having a pacemaker and continuing to take Davocet is a non-issue now. FDA, or somebody, has decreed Davocet to be bad medicine and pulled it from the market. We can no longer get prescriptions filled.

As for what you have already taken, I've taken Darvon and later Davocet for some 40+ years for gout and/or back pain. I've had a dual lead pacemaker since 2000 and actually have taken more during the last 3 or 4 years than at any other time in my life. If it has bothered me I don't know it.

So based on my experience, I say do as I'm going to do and take what I have left. My Dr wants me to switch to Tramadol, but frankly I had rather do without. For me Tramadol is a poor pain reliever, but an excellent sleeping pill.

I'll be interested in learning what you or anyone finds is a good substitute for Davocet.

Yesterday was my first day mountain biking after my implant. I wiped out several times and everything is fine. There are sports after pacemakers!
