Unwell after annual pacemaker check

Hi.

I have had my pacemaker for three years and annual check ups since.

Never had a problem yet last week after I went in, a few alterations were made to settings and on the day, shortly after, and since, have felt unwell, grossly tired heart flipping on beats, headache.

I phoned the clinic on the day and was told that that was a coincidence as nothing they did could be the source of my situation

It all seems to be too coincidental.

Has anybody else had similar problems?

Sounds like your clinic has an "Easy Button"

That's when they want to take the easy way out....whether it's an easy answer to brush you off or the easy way to handle our devices during surgery, etc.  Unfortunately, many of us have experience with the "Easy Button".  Call them back and asked to be seen.

How many changes did they make?  In any case, ask them to change it all back and see if that doesn't make it better.  Ask them what changes they made and why if you were feeling well all along.

Typically, they should not change more than 1 or 2 settings at a time.  That way if something is worse, they can reverse the changes they made and try something else.  If they change too many settings at once, it makes it difficult for the doc or rep to figure out which setting to change back before they try another.

There is no info in your bio which sometimes can help us when we respond to your concerns.

Try to get the doctor this time, it sure sounds like something was changed.

I agree with GratefulHeart and your suspicions, and that you should ask them to reverse the changes they made and then see how you feel.  You are the person whose life it affects - insist if you have to, but knowing what it was that they changed previously and say that you will let them know in a week (or however long you feel you need) how things are doing.
