Report on pacemaker settings

Is there some type of report that I can obtain from the EP showing all the different settings and changes that have been done to my pacemaker.  (Changes were only made one time)  I am seeing him Wednesday and don't know if he will make any changes as I am having a nuclear cardiac echo and stress test today.

I have an appointment with a new EP next week for a second opinion because I do not feel that the first doctor is making the needed adjustments.

Than you.

report of settings

Yes, there should be if you can get one that is. They are your records and you should be able to recieve a copy of them. They may charge you for this service though. Just ask your current EP's office for a copy. I may have to be changing EP's soon as well because our insurance is changing and while he's apparently still participating in the plan the hospital he uses is not so if I had to have anything done I would have to use a different hospital than the one he's at. doesn't make sense to keep him.

Yes. Whenever your pacemaker is interrogated, a summary page of all the settings is generated. You simply ask for a copy. Someone here can help you interpret all the numbers and abbreviations.

Now that I know I need it, I always ask for a copy at the time of interrogation.

Manufacturer Rep

As I mentioned in the past, I would insist that the EP have a manufacturer rep there for your appointment. This is not out of the ordinary and several EP's here offer to bring them in if we felt more comfortable. Tiony

Thanks for the responses

Figallegro - are you a Biotronik manufacturer rep?

confusing me...

First, at least stateside, most interrogations are performed in a doctors office but, they are done by a manufacturer's engineer (we call them reps or techs but they are engineers. Now before I go further, there are indeed exceptions, in my case a Nurse Practionier does mine. Now the manufacturers people are limited in what they are allowed to do as they are not medical personnel so they may defer to the doctor, but you can ask for a copy of the print out and they should provide it. That being said...why? If you don't understand it, and you surely cannot make any changes why do you feel you need a copy? What you really need is to talk more with your doctor and make sure the communication is bi-directional. They are the ones who are trained and paid to adjust your device so having a copy of the read out isn't particularly beneficial unless you are just a engineering geek who likes to feel in control.

Why

I wanted a copy because I am going to another EP next week for a second opinion and since the current EP has only made 1 adjustment, I thought it would be nice for the new one to see what the initial settings were and what was changed.

Not a Rep

I have a Boston Scientic PM, retired, and not a rep but have many doc friends that have tremendously over the years . The Boston Scientific Rep visited me at the hospital the day following implant and he also stated it is a good idea to have a rep at an EP appointment if problems exist. Good luck on your appointment for second opinion. Sorry you are going through all these frustrating symptoms, but your persistence will pay off.

Seems docs around here don't use the techs, and they should.

Copies of reports

by Figallegro - 2016-12-22 10:04:46

I have asked for and received without question, a printout copy of every report, one while in hospital, one at 30 days, one from a remote check, and one at 3 months. We head south for two months i nthe winter and wanted these if needed while away from home.  good to have
