Can other illnesses affect PM timing?

Got myself infected with an upper respiratory thingy.  No fever, but lots of nose blowing, and feeling "beat up."  Most obnoxious part is the formation of a cold sore on my lower lip (OUCH!).  Obviously a Herpes Simplex attack.  I have a 20 day supply of acyclovir on hand which I began using at the first sign of the lip thing forming. Can an incident like mine affect the function of my PM?

No! However, if you heart still speeds up on its own, you can expect a 10 rpm speed up for each 1 degree of temperature you have. If no temp, no change.

Hi David

I have had a duel PM in for 7yrs, I also have a respitory problem at min and taking anti-biotics.

Coughing continuously doesnt help your ribcage etc, your heart speeds up as your temp rises and yes I do worry if my PM is affected especially the wires coming lose with all the strain on muscles. But don't despair you should be fine, I have had problems with dislodged wires and you will know about it if they come loose, mine was excrutiating pain.

Good Luck with the sores, they are a nuisance.

Not the PM, but

Illness or meds won't affect the operation of the PM.

But some might affect the heart in ways that an adjustment of the PM might be helpful. But I don't think that is common.
