Increased tenderness over the incision site!

Hello everyone!

I'm 22 years old and in October I received my dual chamber ICD, recently I got sick with Strep went on antibiotics, strep resolved. However yesterday, I started feeling super sharp/burning over the incision, and today the site is much more tender. Should I play it safe and get it checked out or wait and see? Don't want to be the girl who cried ICD infection😂 Thanks

Ask for cultures. If it is infected, it's important to treat it aggressively as soon as possible which means being 100% sure you are on the correct antibiotic from the first day. If they just take a guess, you could spend a week or two on something that isn't working, which means the infection has a week or two to spread.

Already?

The 2 most common bacterias for device infection are.......

staph and streph

Call your doctor the streph virus really likes the leads and device.

If they say it is infected - know you can pm me anytime. I've been there done it and can tell you it is all going to be okay.

If it is not infected then - great!

You know you're wired when...

Your device acts like a police scanner.

To tell you the truth I never even give it a second thought. While growing up it never stopped me from doing anything and to this day my girlfriend or my kids need to remind me that I have one!
