my resting heart rate was 52 although maybe slower at night before implantation I am set at 60 now so PM must be kicking in. Has anyone else experienced this?

I believe some pace makers have a sleep mode which reduces minimum heart rate during preset times. You may want to ask your provider??

Schdule

I had sleep disturbances myself, my low setting is 40bpm high 150bpm. For me personally I feel mental health was a significant part of it. I would recommend trying to get yourself on a consistent sleep schdule (wake up and sleep at the same time every day). If you have a bad night try not to nap as it will become a ruthless cycle to try to get your sleep on schdule. Also try to keep active even if it's just going for a walk.

Closing in on 2 weeks with my PM and I've awoken every night so far. The first few nights I felt my heart was racing, got worried and wound up getting up resulting in very little sleep. Previously I rarely woke up at night. After the first few days I just stay in bed and try not to think about how fast my heart is beating. I eventually go back to sleep and seem to be getting enough sleep now.

My ICD/pacer is not a burden. I still play tennis and golf.

I don't know how common this problem is. I can tell you that I had problems sleeping immediately after getting my PM. Prior to my PM my heart rate while sleeping was generally between 35 and 40 bpm. My new PM lower rate was set at 60 bpm. I told my doc I was having trouble sleeping. He asked if I would like him to decrease my lower rate to 50 and see if it would help. It made a world of difference for me immediately and my lower rate has been at 50 ever since.
