FIBRULATIONS AFTER PACEMAKER INSTALLED

Hello,

Recently joined, and saw several posts about others who had fibrulations after pacemaker installed.

Had mine put in about 4 years ago. No testings indicated any fibrulations until last years

Was put in because I had violent seizures from drinking too much alcohol just before working out and sitting in a sauna for almost half an hour.

Heart beat went down so low VA doctor put in pacemaker.

No other issues indicated until this year when I insisted they take it out.

I also never gave permission,  because I was unconscious. And there was no one to sign for me.

Do these VA Drs. really have the right to do this or can I sue?

life with heart issues and device

Wow....you seem to have pushed your body to the limit.  None of us want heart issues or devices, but we do want life.  Time to start thinking of your device as your lifeline.  I don't know the legal answer to your question as I am not a lawyer.  Please get with a reputable cardiologist and discuss your cardiac health.  Ask away.  Then, if you feel someone who attempted to keep you alive wronged you, go from there legally.  I know suddenly finding a strange box in your chest connected to your heart is hard to deal with.  What happened may not have been your choice, but you are still alive and how you spend your remaining years is your choice.  You can do this.....eat and drink healthy, follow your medical cares directions and smile a lot.  I am on my second device so I do understand and mean no criticism.  Best wishes for a happier life.

Let me try this again.

There's nothing currently wrong with my heart that warrants the need for a pacemaker.

I was dehydrated and passed, and my heartbeats went very low.

I am glad that your heart is being cared for by your device.

My pacemaker was put in by a VA doctor without checking for a specific heart problem, and without my permission.

And who knows, maybe all Drs. are so empathic that they only care about us, and not getting sued if there were an issue after they removed a pacemaker.

I tend to lean toward the latter reason the VA is refusing to take it out.

So with that said, it seems obvious that my rights are being violated.

And I am taking very good care of my overall health. I eat organically, I exercise regularly, and I have a very positive attitude about life.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Cause and Effect

First of all by fibrulations do you mean AFIB or Atrial Fibrillation? That is a specific diagnoses. That can be different from Palpations, which just means that a heart beat that is noticed. And Palpations can be from many different types of problems.

There are many different causes AFIB and will I don't have any statistics by a very large majority most people with AFIB don't have a pacemaker.

As a general rule of thumb irritation of the heart can cause AFIB. And removing the PM (and more important the leads) could cause AFIB or make it worse.

I agree with your philosophy. The medical community should never take any action on you unless/until you are conscious and coherent enough to read, comprehend, and sign authorization. How dare they choose to save you

Hi,

I want to thank those who he commented.

And for a final comment on my behalf, I would like to say this in order to make myself clearer for those who don’t seem to be able to get it.

1. I have no significant problem with my heart that warrants a pacemaker.

2. I had no diagnosis of any kind prior to asking that the pacemaker be taken out.

3. I was told at first by the NURSE PRACTITIONER and not a Dr. that I was having palpitations and fibrillations, and at the third checking when I asked what she meant by fibrillations, she indicated that the monitor was indicating AFIB.

I hope this makes my points a bit clearer, and if not, please forgive me and It's great that so many are living with the benefit of their devices.

Peace.

You take technology to heart.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
