About fentanyl

by PatCan - 2017-02-13 23:39:31

Yes, stay away from fentanyl.  I had sacroiliac joint dysfunction some years back and ended up on the patches because of the horrid unrelieved pain.  It finally took some doing to get off of them, which I did on my own.  The nurse practitioner rolled her eyes when I told her what I had done.  It was about 3 days of intense withdrawal to get off of them.  I felt like my skin was crawling and got very little sleep until the effects finally wore off...horrible stuff that fentanyl.

I received IV fentanyl during my implant, in recovery it LITERALLY felt like my face was falling off, the skin on my forehead was folding over itself, very strange sensation.

Hi, Jesse,

So glad you are home. Yes, reactions can be miserable and so dangerous.  I have had many.  Have been told more than once that nobody is that allergic or oh, that reaction was years ago honey or that is not a reaction beginning, just irritation.  Always ends the same.  My last one was from Vancomycin after my second implant.  I told the nurse my IV area was beginning to itch and hurt....."Oh, that is just irritation."  Fell asleep and woke up with my arm twice its size.  Be sure all of your medical care is aware of your reaction.  Enjoy home.
