Pacemaker

I had my pacemaker put in on the 7 March 2017 because I had a Left Bundle Branch and I was fainting every now and again.I have not fainted since the implant.I was told not to exercise within the first 6 weeks and wondered whether I could play golf after the 6 week period.The unit is situated in my right shoulder.Any golfers out there who can give me conservative advice.My wound has healed nicely but I am still not lifting my right arm above shoulder level(I am 65 yrs old).Appreciatiate the advice.Colin L

Hi LAMMIE    I don't know if it is conservative advice or not but I can only tell you my experience :-

I think 6 weeks is a little too soon to do a full swing but in those first 6weeks I did practice putting and chipping

6 - 8  weeks  I was pitching and was nervously attempting to drive with a half-swing

At 8 weeks  I played 18 holes , using a full swing, and found everything was fine 

My golf club seems to get another PM patient every other month or so ; there is definitely life after a PM implant

You need to be more care where you swing that club.

Yes I can hit a PM recipient every time with my 5 iron.  I call it my " Pacemaker Club "

I live in an area where golf is so big that my ep has specific instructions on the paperwork he sends home with us! Ian is right on. Chip, pitch, putt as you feel up to it. 8-10 weeks for a full swing.
