Problem with Merlin

My wife had a pacemaker/defribulator installed 18 months ago. She had an incident  while she was sleeping 5feet from the Merlin. The defribulator went off and supposedly saved her. But there was a burn mark on the furniture under the Merlin. Any body have the same problem. I think the Merlin had an electrical problem and killed my wife and the defribulator went off and saved her. Any body have similar incident?

Something odd is going on for sure, but the monitor can't cause the icd to fire. All the monitor does is transmit data, it can't control or reprogram the device. Definitely unplug it and your wife needs to be seen asap.

Merlin@home transmitter

Hi rbuckley,

The Merlin@home transmitter does not have the ability to change any settings on the implant or make the implant perform any function; it simply takes the data off the implant and gives it to the doctor's office.

Were there burn marks on the Merlin@home transmitter itself or just on the furniture? If you're concerned that the transmitter may be damaged or is not working correctly, I recommend reaching out to technical support :)

Hi, I am 47 and have had a pacemaker for 7 months and I’m doing great with it.
