Electric Shocks

Hi all..

Had my replacement PM yesterday - they used the 20 year old leads again -  Yeaahh.., was home for dinner, should of been home for lunch but when I came out of the aneasthetic I had a number of very painful electric shocks in the wound site.. I call it sparking, as I have had it before about 25 years ago when the pacemakers weren't insulated as well (happened when came in range of the the big electricity towers).  Anyway they gave me some morphine in recovery which took the general incision pain away but the sparking was just as painful.. The Medtronic technician came to see me and I told him about it, he said shouldnt be anything wrong but check with the surgeon.

They moved me to the going home area and they called the surgeon, they then took my lunch away from me mid bite of a sandwich and one sip of a cup of tea and said I have to wait for the surgeon to come see me when he is finished his current operation, he may need to go back in....    About 3 hours later he came to see me and guess what - by them I hadnt had a spark for about an hour... he checked the site - felt around a bit and said its more likely to be nerve pain, as its the 4th time the incision has been open and talked about clavical nerves - thank goodness my daughter was there (she is a chiropractor) and understood what he was saying.

So the good news is now that the fog has cleared and Im semi functioning again... I havent had the sparks as bad, just mild flutters...  Im hoping and praying that the sparking doesnt come back.   Im still not 100% convinced its nerve pain - I think its interference of some sort..

Has anyone experienced this pain before??

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
