Etopic Beats

I have been getting what I think is Etopic beats that are painful. Just one, sometimes in throat, sometimes in chest. But , I have also had problems with my stomach the last few weeks. I was trying to get off Prilosec. Not able too . Went to Gastrologist, Throat Dr, becuase was having bad pains in throat. They want me to up my Prilosec for a month and see what happens ( so thrilled) then if its not better endosocopy. Now, back to etopics. I have been getting one after I settle in to go to sleep. and sometimes a small one in morning as getting up! So weird, I ride my bike 40 mins ( inside bike) every day  * well missed 2 this week) and no etopics that I know of and my heart beat only goes to about 112 -115 from 60's ( I will be 65 tomorrow) I am not short of breath nor tired. But, I am getting worried about the painful etopics. Called nurse last week she said do a transmit. She said everything looked fine! Did not even see etopic! That is my question , can they see these things!!! ( Dr, did look at report) So, does that mean I am not having them or is this my Stomach, Gerd and hiatal Hernia. Today it has been hurting but was up most of last night googling and worrying ( Dumb I know, I should have come here!!) So... hope you guys can help, thanks in advance, Ileen

Ectopic

by Bostonbionic - 2017-03-26 17:37:51

When you have your pm checked they can tell you how many ectopics you are getting. I had my paper readout printed and could see mine. The problem could be you are worrying too much and medication can cause ectopic problems. Usually they are harmless and mostly occur when the heart is slower hence why you don't get it cycling. Try to use more pillows when you sleep so you don't feel it so much. Even hormones or too much exercise can cause them. Anxiety stress will too. Try to do some meditation breathing slowly in for 4 counts and 3 counts out that has shown to work for at least 3minutes. Ask for a 24 hour holter investigation actually insist to put your mind at ease. This will show everything.

Hope this helps.

I wasn't sure if the pacemaker would capture them. I had a loop moniter in for about 8 months because I complained of etopics. That is how I wound up with the pacemaker. Was having pauses ( just a couple) but low heart rate at night. I have had the etopics since I was maybe 20 ( some painful) but been getting them more the last few weeks!I will be 65 tomorrow. So, I know you get them more when you are older. They still scare me. I will do the deep breathing. I have done the before.I think I am obsessing about them again, and that only makes them more frequent I have learned. Gotta stop! I will ask the nurse about them tomorrow maybe. But, will try to just relax! I want to enjoy my birthday and that will get me uptight.  Thank you for your help! Ileen

Happy birthday

IIeen thank you for your comment under my happy birthday I did reply to you there. I had long pauses when I was sleeping hence my PM but maybe I could have gone on in life never knowing this. It was one night I got up and passed out and it was discovered. I had my pacing turn down so my own heart would respond. Delayed pacing in the ventricular just less than a second. Stopped all my ectopic beats but it took 6months to convince them. You are 65 and doing extremely well if you had ectopic since your twenties shows that it's just the way your heart works. Like I suggested just relax and trust all will be ok. If you ask the doctors to turn off any auto checks on your pm and do the same as me reduce the pacing. I'm paced 38per cent. I had my lower heart rate switched off since my pulse could go to 40 beats a minute and I was ok. The pm will still kick in after the delay. Don't worry about the ectopic getting worse as you get older try to ignore it and go and enjoy your swimming . You are at a great age and you will have many more years to celebrate.
