UUGGHH!!

Hello Again,

My background: Boston Scientific Essentio MRI compat implanted in June-2016 for bradycardia and low heart rate during exercise (it would climb, but not as high as it should).  Max tracking rate was originally set at 140 with rate response sensititivty setting at 8.  Begin to run again and out of the blue started having ventricle tach pop-up after 30 minutes of activity, which of course threw everything out of whack.  More tests came back negative for any structural issues.  I had the PM setting adjusted to 150 max tracking and sensitivity to 10 while being put on a very low dose beta blocker.  I took the beta blocker for about a month and then stopped due to side effects.  Now have the issue of my heart rate hitting 150 during exercise and staying there no matter the level of activity.  Only can bring it down by stopping or walking slowly.  No tach issues.  If those show up again I'm just going to ask for the rate response to be switched off.  Not going on beta blocker again.

Just got off the phone the cardio office and they are giving me the run around on how moving the sensitivity to a 9 won't change things that much.  I started to get a little peeved because they don't quite understand I'm the patient and I'm not completely happy.  Is that how sophisticated these devices are, that you just go from one number to the next for the setting?  Sounded kind of primative to me.  Or is there more bells and whistles and it's time for me to look for different office?  Sometimes wish I didn't have it implanted.  I pressed and got an appt for this Wed.  I didn't realize that post implant patient care would be such a pain in arse for this office.

Frustrated,  Bob

Many Adjustments

I am not sure of the details of which parameters that model has.

But typically, in addition to the sensitivity, there amount of activity needed to start it increasing, the rate that it increases, and the rate that the HR decrease with no activity.

You might ask to do the adjustments while on a treadmill. Also might ask them to get the manufactures rep to be there.

You know you're wired when...

Trade secrets can be smuggled inside your device.

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
