Feeling my heart beat

Firstly I am so hapy to have found this web site, really helpful advice and make me feel less alone.

I had a pacmaker fitter in July 2016 so just about had it 11 months, after a few interim visits to sort it out pacing wise the hospital said all was ok. My real worry is that befor I had it my hear used to try and stop then a masive beat would come that hurt. Now I feel my heart beating during the day and when I am in bed, does anyone think this is a problem. No seems to want to listen and just say its fine.

Heartbeat

Hi Lesley,

i am also experiencing similar feelings. never before have i notice my heartbeat on a day to day basis but now, since having my pacemaker fitted i seem to notice it all of the time. Night time when im trying to relax and when lying in bed seem to be the worst time for me too. I think when we experience something significant with our bodies, especially our hearts, its natural to become more 'intune' with senses and feelings. We are all different and what is normal for one person isnt for another, but one thing i can say is that you are not alone.

I have only been on this site for a day but just reading through other peoples experiences is helping, Ive got a way to go yet but have every faith things will get easier, hey im even thinking about joining a yoga class, never thought id hear myself saying that haha.

Hang in there

Nick

Hi Nick, yes I agree the site is the best thing so far to help me deal with the pacemaker. Good to know it seems nothing is wrong and I am just more aware, imagining a problem I think!!!!

Thanks for replying and for the support, maybe we wil speak again on here :)

Have a good day

Very Common

Hi Robin

Thanks for replying, what you say makes sence, I got reprimanded when I told the heart nurse on a visit that I didnt want to be "ill" she told me I wasent "ill" and to get on with life, not an easy thing to do in the begining. I am starting to come to terms with the pacemaker and making the effort to try and "forget "it is there.

Have a good day

You have a good day too Lesley, it's nice to have people to talk to, even if we don't know one another we all have something similar in common.

I'm sure we will speak again, I'm on here all the time now haha, and always happy to chat.

All the best

Nick

Sorry that you are having thus issue. I rec'd PM 1 yr ago but have not experienced hearing or feeling a heart best.

I still work on my acceptance of needing a PM. Getting back to your normal life is key.  Thankfully I am physically able to do that thanks to my PM.

This forum also helps me to realize how many active PM recipients there sre. You are definitely not alone.

Hi

many thanks for replying, it is reassuring to know that we all have something in common, some more involved than others but still good to hear from all Pacemakere people :)

I too, as you can see from my post had a real problem telling myself that I was infact not "ill" I have had to shake myself up as a lot of other thingks are happening in my life and I had to re take control of it before it controlled me. Nothing major, trying to move house, get loan for buying a business, problematic neighbours and impending redundancy, these all added to my "worry" about my pacemaker. Since givng myself a good talking to and basicaly puting the pacemaker to the back of my mind and just letting it do its thing life seems much easier to deal with.

Onwards and upwards from here on,  my PM is my friend now and not my enemy :)

Have a good day
