I am 69 years old and facing a replacement of my Biotronik ICD in the next 2-3 months. I live outside the U.S., but am a U.S. Citizen and have Medicare Part A coverage. Can anyone give me a ballpark estimate of the out-of-pocket costs I can expect. Based on the little information i can find online, I suspect it might be around $40-000-50-000. Thanks.

...someone asked about the costs in Atlanta, GA. I googled & found that a Medicare patient typically pays $2,000 for the out of pocket costs at Emory Univ Hosp in Atlanta.
There are several membeers who have had it done at Emory - they can either xconfirm or deny the Google figure. I cannot because I had mine replaced there in 2010 & do not have the EOB's available from then.
