Decrease in % Ejection Fraction after 2 years implant CRT/D

I received a Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy with Defibrilator (CRT/D) in May 2015. My Ejection Fraction at the time of implant was 20%, I also had episodes of Arythmia.

In October 2016 ( 17 months Post CRT/D Implant) my Ejection Fraction had increased to 51% - Brilliant...

Now in May 2017 ( 24 months Post CRT/D Implant) My ejection Fraction is 24% - Disaster...

I have'nt had my appointment through to see my Consultant Cardiologist as yet. But as you can imagine I'm very stressed..

What if anything may happen? The Device is functioning as its supposed to with 71% Battery remaining.

Has this happened to any other Forum User's?

Many Thanks

EF

One bad measurment does not neccesarily signal bad news. EF can vary overtime and is only accurate to within about 5%.

What they are going to want to do is measure it again.

Also they can change your meds to help.

Also it may very well go back up.

I know right. They did not tell you all that did they?

Wish you well.

BOBJ and Robin1 - Many thanks for your comments.

I'm kinda hoping it was just a poor or mistaken measurement of my EF. Possibility that I shall try the 'Put the sick tool box ' away method.

Thanks

Easier said than done but worrying about it wont do you any good but can do bad. so dont.

So an EF measurement is something someone ordered and they will see the result, so they will want to see you if you dont bug them first.

I have had a pacer for 30 years and my EF started to drop, which is expected after 20-30 years of pacing with a two lead pacer.  hit the magic number two weeks ago got a three lead, so will see if it brings mine back up.  hmmm, maybe one of your leads broke or needs to be adjusted, it may not be driving one of the chambers and basically not doing what it should be doing, they can easily see that when you go in to have the pacer/icd interrotagted.

Could just need a small adjustment. it could be a mouse click away, dont worry until there is something to worry about.   but do call for an appt if they have not called you.

You know you're wired when...

You invested in the Energizer battery company.

I have had my pacer since 2005. At first it ruled my life. It took some time to calm down and make the mental adjustment. I had trouble sleeping and I worried a lot about pulling wires. Now I just live my life as I wish.
