lead extractions

My wife is facing multiple lead extractions she has three leads all 25 years old.

Anyway curious if a lead breaks during the extraction, I asume it's just left and they go after a differant one ? Or what ? 

She also has scoliousis making things tougher . We have our consult tomorrow.

Feel good about the surgeon Dr. Schearf ( spelling ) at St. Joe, Burbank, Ca.

Apperntly he invented the laser .

A question I will ask, but any input appreciated is appreciated.

When they extract, they will remove everything they can get. They use the laser to go mm by mm to remove it from the scar tissue that's formed around it. If it breaks, I would assume it doesn't much matter and they just keep going, at least that's how it was explained to me.

I know Dr. Schearf, and have great respect for him. He showed me minimally invacife srugery when it was in its infancy and met with him at Medtronic. But, he did not invent the laser lead removal catheter. Dale Wahlstorm and I, (Terrell M. Williams} are the actial inventers of the laser catheter for lead removal. We owe it to folks like Dr, Schearf for studying its performance clinically and recommending who should and shouldn't have the procudure. So, yes, Dr. Schearf is truly an innovator.

I had this procedure done at ucsd

 and have had no complications.

Dr. biergesdotter green is great. I hope your Dr. does a good job, anyone you go to that is confident with the procedure(and do a high # of these procedures per year) will be who you need to go to.
