Hi

Hi everybody,

Im new here, 4 weeks post pm implantation. Feeling a little alone, I hate having to have this and Im struggling with having my insurance cancelled 2 weeks after my implant. Trying not to freak with a brand bew device and NO Dr. care. I appealed and I was denied. Now I dont know if my imagination is going nuts or Im just going nuts anyway. Im scared that a lead will come loose, or it will fail and on and on. Im driving myself crazy, this isnt like me at all!!!

Will this settle down soon? Well the soreness go away soon? Will the stitch that wont disolve disolve soon? Im afraid to move. I dont know what to do??

Sorry to rant but I know you can all understand what I feel having been thru this. Any calming advice would be so welcome.

Thank you all,

💖

Being brave..

... can be quite trying when you're also working to deal with and sort through so much at once. It's understanding that you feel frustrated and scared while trying to be brave. Sometimes the best you can do is one thing at a time, then plans have a way of taking shape and starting to work in one way or another.

First, watch that stitch for infection. For signs of infection anywhere, seek prompt attention and treatment from an ER. Also if needed, can you obtain some fast, inexpensive/ temporary health insurance or public assistance of some type or make payment arrangements to get by for now? Perhaps you just need a follow-up to make sure things are working properly, and not leading to infection that can lead to other issues and more needed care (and provide reassurance).

Yes, it will settle down, in stages... incision, skin, blood vessels, nerves all fight to heal then settle down. Use over the counter pain reliever, ice packs, soft pillows to prop where needed for sleeping comfort... move gently, safely, but keep moving and keep following post-op care advice. As you help things heal, you'll feel better, and you will see that you can do this!

Perhaps a church, local clergy, senior center, or other resource can help with referrals or other suggestions that can provide assistance, help think things through, plan needed steps and how best to pursue them. You're not alone and we want the best for you, even without knowing much of your circumstances.

There is great expertise here that may have much better advice, especially after more is learned; I'd get after any open wound or infection, work at getting a tech or physician to check out your pacer, and continue healthy habits best you can. Deep breath, rest, forge ahead... hope to hear back that you are finding help and doing better soon!

Thank you both so much. Such great suggestions and comforting experience. I am happy to hear the anxiety I am going through will eventually pass and that the fears I have are "normal". I of course will stay on top of caring for my wound as it heals and also keep an eye on this stitch as well.

Thanks for reminding me that I can appeal again! I have just felt so defeated and well, broken that I basically have given up. I dont want to go down without a fight!!

Indeed, I have much to learn as I navigate this new existence and I am grateful I now have friends to talk to who are walking beside me.

Many thanks!!
