Can I travel

I was told 2 weeks ago that I needed a pacemaker as my heart was stopping for 6 seconds at a time, I was also told that it would be fitted within a couple of weeks unless I had a syncope episode and to go straight to A&E I had just booked a surprise holiday for my husband in September told the doctor this and his reply was as it was being done so soon that wouldn't be a problem, I have just been told that my pacemaker is scheduled for 25th July so 7 weeks before I fly is that enough time and will I be recovered enough, any advise would be gratefully appreciated

You should be fine in seven weeks. However, some of your recovery will depend on what kind of shape you are in now. If you are in good shape, you will recover quicklty. The only real restriction is lifting your arm above your shoulder. You can start exercising, walking, as soon as you feel fit. I was playing golf in less than six weeks and back to doing most of my other physical activity. I work out 5-6 days a week. I seven weeks you will be good to go.

Have a great trip!

I think I went overseas after three weeks with my first one.

You should get a temporary paper card that has the brand and model and serial numbers, maybe your doctors name and phone number,  later in the mail you will get a plastic one to keep with you.  Either one you should take with you, I have not had security second guess when I tell them I have a pacer, their scanners are not a problem, but they may get upset if you wander through and set off the detector THEN tell them you have a device.  Tell them before.  Remember what brand  you have, in case you need to have it interrogated out of town overseas or not, will help them find the right box to talk to your device.  The model number on the card helps them further, but their box should figure that out.  Just a little piece of mind in case something feels weird on your trip, you have the info you need.

Have a good trip!  No worries.
