PM Sensations?

Being a new recepient of a Biotroniks dual chamber pm, are there sensations or feelings to expect? My EP and pm tech told me the pm has to learn the heart even though the pm has been programed at implant time. Ever since the implant, 6 weeks ago today, I get these on/off bursts of fast hr that last 30 seconds to 3 or 4 minutes, sometimes several times a day. Never did these tachy things till the pm was implanted. Just wondering what I might expect to show up from time to time. Anyone else have these feelings? I realize that everyone is different but are there things that most of us share in getting used to the pm. Thanks all and have a good day!

Biotronik PM

by JoJo B - 2017-06-16 00:45:45

Greetings - I too received my dual Biotronik pm 6 wks ago today! I am having a different issue (with a detaching lead, separate post here), so don't have more experience than you, other than to say that I had my first ck and adjustment the morning after, another one in two weeks, and another one yesterday. Plenty of opportunities to voice questions, concerns, and press for adjustments that will allow for my level of exercise and activity. It's supposed to be a marvelous new pm, so I would encourage you to keep voicing your questions and ensure your tech understands what you are conveying. I did not have the tachycardia bursts at all (just the weird chest "punches" from the detached lead I believe), but would definitely be vocal about them if I did. The experienced folks here can say better what seems abnormal, and I know it takes time for all to become 'synced' and practically unnoticeable.  I suspect we will both be waiting, but for different reasons; I am staying hopeful.

I hope all improves soon for you and your Biotronik - best wishes!

As for my pacemaker (almost 7 years old) I like to think of it in the terms of the old Timex commercial - takes a licking and keeps on ticking.
