Gymnastics

Hello all,

Does anyone know if you can still do gymnastics once you get a PM? Looks like ill be getting one soon and i would still like to goof off with my kids when they go to the gym. Nothing crazy, just basic skills.

Definitely! Yes...but after a while. After the op my arm is always sore and tender, I would give it until the scar is 100% healed and there's no pain.

Thank you! I've been reading some of the post about leads becoming disloged, batteries fliping, weird pains after surgery and it was scarying me a little. It started to seem like you couldnt do anything once it was in.

I am 7 months post surgery and I started strength training once the 6 recovery weeks were over.

The leads and battery should be plastered in place by the tissue in your body and you just have to be careful not to hit the pacemaker area, or have anything heavy rest on it. If anything, you should feel even more energetic! I recently hit my max of 25 pullups and started doing muscle ups, so gymnastics should be fine for you too! All the best :-)

25 pullups is impressive. How old are you?  I can do 12 max but I'm 70.    I will be getting a PM soon and wondered if that would be a problem. Apparently not.    Also I like doing bench press.  It seems if you don't let the bar touch the PM area it would be safe to do.    Muscle ups, now that's another matter.  When I was a young rock climber that was a common test of explosive upper body strength.    Glad to hear there are some top level athletes doing well with the PM.  I wonder if PM runners can still post a decent time in the 5 or 10 K range or longer?

Bory, thank you! I just received my PM 5 days ago as an an avid crosfitter and mud onstacle runner I was panicking thinking that the things that I enjoy so much may be a thing of the past! Just knowing that you are able to do pull ups means so much!!! Thank you!!!
