Interrogation after effect

I had to have my cardio tech look at my incision today to see what was sticking out of my skin. Looked like a gold colored stitch or wire. He said it was okay and will eventually wash off. THEN he came at me with the interrogator disc and I told him I wasn''t there for that. He said it needed to be checked so he did it. Well that same thing happened this time as it did the time before. When I left the hospital my hr went up to over 122+. all the way home, about 45 miles. Not painful at all but very uncomfortable. After the hour or so ride home it continued for about another hour, on/off. He had explained the pm was sensing my blood pressure and reacting to it. That Long ??? Finally settled out and went back to pvcs and short runs. If this is going to happen every time the interrogate the pm then I am going to talk to the cardio EP to consider removing the pm. Any one else have this happen after interrogation ?

Hi Gman, I dont get the pvcs later I get them during and I hate the interrogation. The first time they did it it hurt! I think you should tell them about it! ( again) dont take it out!You may need it!! But maybe they can adjust the setting. I have trouble in the care, my heart races when going over rough roads( hubby driving)or bumps make me feel strange in my throat and stomach! They don't know what that iseither!! Hope you get some answers. hang in there!!

every time

Just assume every time you go in they are going to do an interrogation, they might not, where you live or your insurance, etc might not pay for it, but 30 years of pacers, basically every time I go in...

And many times I feel they didnt return the settings back.. but they did.

Remember we drive the rate that the pacer responds to.  Try this, the current practice I go to one person hooks me up to the machine, EKG is going, leaves, a bit later another person comes in to run the machine.  In the mean time perfect opportunity to watch the ekg/rate and using breathing and relaxation to control or try to control that rate, probably wound up they hooked you up around this point so try to calm and slow it down.  use that later on the way home or at any time it is needed.

I hear counting supposedly helps ("counting sheep" for example to try to sleep), try watching the monitor and counting heart beats, not rate just count until you get bored with it...see if that helps...

Certainly talk to the EP about this, but it does sound like it is your blood pressure and/or fear of the interrogation.  I have had a pacer for 30 years now so that is on the order of lets say over 50 interrogations certainly, perhaps more.  They always do them, they always check the leads so they do the slow it down thing the speed it up thing, sometimes the tech warns you sometimes not, I get more upset about the tech not warning me than the interrogation...

Interrogation after effects

I don't get the rapid heart rate, at least I haven't yet, just before or during the interrogation, but shortly after I leave he cardio's office after the interrogation procedure, when I head for home. It just starts, and the last 2 visits were the same reaction to the interogation, ALL the way home and it takes just over a hour to drive home. Other times the instant hr "burst" happens, at times, when I change postions or roll over in bed. I ralize our hearts do go into a faster speed when we exert ourselves, or even stress or fear. But I don't usually feel it, like after the interrogation, as if the feeling is caused or induced by the pm itself. Really considering having the pm removed even though the cardio says I need it also because of a weak sinus node. I just don't think I will adjust to the hr instant speedup. I just have to think whether or not I am willing to risk the alternative with having the pm removed. I have an appointment on July 5th and will decide after that visit and interrogstion.

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
