Total heart block

On vacation in Florida, episode of syncope...call paramedics, rush me to the emergency room, 1 hour later they declare I am in total heart block and install a temporary pm in groin area, 3 hours later I get a st Jude dual lead PM. Travel home, get an appointment with local cardiologist..he check me, yep you have total heart block, pacing 33% in Atrium and greater than 99% in ventricle. Go back for a PM check 3 months later and ventricle is now pacing about 66%. Go back again in 3 months and ventricle is pacing less then 1% , which is as low as they can read, heart is beating on its own. 3 more visits, one yesterday yielded the same results, 20% atrium , lees then 1% ventricle..almost a full year of less then 1%. Cardiologist say this is very rare but apparently nerve pathway has repaired itself....I am 70 year old male and in good shape, excercise regularly but always have. Has anyone else heard of anything like this?

Unless it was caused by medication or surgery, it's very rare for heart block to improve that drastically. Good for you!!! Fingers crossed it stays that way.

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
