I was in the hospital last week for a COPD flare up and pneumonia. My oxygen levels kept dropping below 90 but when I got home it was better. My question is that I thought a pacemaker keeps your pulse at a regular level. My pulse rate this morning is 138 and I am concerned. The pacemaker only kicks in if I have a pause. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thank you so much Ian! I too think my pulse rate is up because of my oxygen levels and possibly still some infection from the pneumonia. I will keep a close eye on it.

Could it be a-fib😚. That is what I have when my pulse rate goes up. I

Your pacemaker does not " keep your pulse at a regular level " . Your pulse is a measure of your heart-rate and all the pacemaker does is it stops your pulse from going too low ( i.e. it prevents pauses )
Heart-rates are meant to go up and down but 138 ( if you're not exercising ) is on the high side. Your heart must be going faster to give you more oxygen because of the COPD flare-up, but there could be other causes. If you are concerned contact your doctor.
Best of luck
Ian
