Hi all
i have had a pacemaker since October 2016 and have recently been asked to attend a breast screening clinic for a mammogram. Can I ask if anyone else pou there has had a mammogram with a pacemaker??
the breast clinic says it's safe!
thanks in advance and best wishes to all ❤️

It's perfectly safe, just make sure they are aware of it. I've had 5 pacers now and have so much scar tissue that they usually send me for an ultrasound because they can't get a good read with the mammo so don't freak if they call you back.

I've been sent for ultrasound because at times they can not see behind my CRT-D. Just had one last week. Usually easy but she clamped down on my collarbone. Ouch
Some are more gentle than others.
Good luck.

Check your leads!

My doc said that for me, it wouldn't be a problem but it may depend on the location (subpec vs buried in the breast tissue vs. under the skin). She said to make sure that they know I have it though, so they don't accidentally apply too much pressure to a lead. I'd ask your doc to be 100% sure, but I haven't seen it contraindicated in my research yet!

Hello and yes - I have a pacemaker since January of 2014, and I have had a mamogram every year since then it is perfectly okay just tell them it doesn't change anything. Have a nice day.
