Steroid injection

Has anyone ever had a cortisone injection through the back of your shoulder for frozen shoulder? If so, how painful was it. I am guessing a 10. I can't get it through the front because of my pacemaker placement.    Thank you

Trying to picture where your pacer is placed that they can't do it from whatever angle they want, they don't usually put them that close to the joint. Are you just guessing or did an orthopedist tell you they'd have to do it from another angle? They go in from wherever the shortest distance is to the place they want to put the medicine. When I had cortisone in the shoulder, they did it from the top, a little to the back. It was better than the ones I've had in the arch of my foot for heel spurs. It hurt, but I've didn't think it was that bad. They spray cold stuff on it the whole time they are doing the injection, just breath through it. I agree with Robin, tho, try PT and other methods first, save cortisone for if that doesn't work.

Don't psych yourself up, get worried and tense and anticipate intense pain.  I have had injections in the bottoms of both feet for Morton neuromas.  To me the pain of being helped/healed is much easier to accept than the pain of an injury.  If it helps to heal your shoulder it is well worth it.  Try to relax. Being tense and worried will focus your thoughts on any pain and could intensify your reaction
