New sensations

I am 1 week out of pacemaker implantation.  Before surgery, I was not aware of "feeling" my heart. I now am quite aware of noticing my heart rate, rhythm, etc.

Additionally, I do not feel "quite right." (Whatever that may mean!)  I have a follow-up appointment this coming Friday for "wound check."  I will let the person know how I am feeling, but can any of you identify with these sensations?

It's normal

I had that for most of my life. Strangely it's gone the other way for me now as I can feel it much less since my system replacement.

I expected these types of feelings but had none.  Your pm is tracking pm events.  After there is enough  history it is reviewed and adjustments to settings are made.

Feeling your heartbeat after implant

Yes!  I was so aware of my heart beating, and could even "see" it beating as I watched my chest.  Crazy feeling for the first few weeks!  When they turned down my voltage at one of my followup visits, the sensation settled down.  Also, as I healed over weeks and even many months I kept feeling better and better!

Keep a positive attitude, live a healthy lifestyle and enjoy each day!  Blessings to you as you continue to heal!!

Self checks

might be worth checking to see it the pm self checks are on. Some have times mine was at night when it did a self diagnostic for an hour. Use to keep me awake and I didn't know they did this. So had them switched off. But that aside yes we all on here noticed flutters jumps extra beats etc when pm are first put in. There are some however who don't experience any problems. Your body and heart need time to adjust depending on what heart block etc you've had. Settings can be changed to suit you if it's safe and your technician should advise you but always ask questions and if you are not happy go back until you are.

Me too`

I have sensations which I call "flutters" or "palpitations."  I have had my pm checked via phone monitoring several times and they report no irregular activity.  When visiting the cardio, he informed me that there are a number of other alternative sources for this sensation, tho he did not go into specifics.  Since I have had my pm only since September last year, I am kind of waiting to see how things develop.  Since I seem to have no other ill effects, perhaps this is all part of being the "New Me."
