hypertrophic cardiomyopathy ( HC)

At last a diagnosis for my 'LVH' ( Left venticular hypertrophy)!  2% of the population have a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The obstructive form is associated with fatal arrhythmias from exercising. The condition runs in families. My children and siblings have to be screened  (echocardiogram/ECG).  There has been a lot of media exposure concerning HC this last week-  for screening and awareness.

Should I be reassured that my HC is said to be non obstructive, or do I need an exercise echocardiogram?

I am, for now, on a beta blocker, Nebivolol, though cannot exercise on it and am getting break-through atrial fibrillation, flutter, and palpitation symptoms.

I have opted to have a redo flutter ablation, and an atrial fibrillation ablation, and take my chances with the complication rates.  I do know that the ablation success is about 60% given the underlying cardiomyopathy. There is a 3 month wait.

I wonder whether I should have my PM changed to an ICD next time it needs replacing?   Cardiomyopathies seems to cause all sorts of arrhythmias.

I thought I would wait for the ablation, and then have a word with the cardiac rehabilitation nurses ( they offered me rehab. last month, after my coronary stenting) .

If anyone has any advice as to exercise investigations or ICDs  for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, I would be grateful for their advice/experience.

Genetic screening

Genetic screening offered today and accepted.

My children's echocardiograms are normal.

Hopefully, genetic screening may tell us whether there is a risk later and to grandchildren.

Ablation

Did you ever get your ablation and if so do you know if they used FIRMap or Topera to map your heart?

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
