workouts

Actually feel good work out most of the time, however I'm using my PM 74% of the time now , bp good, bpm w/ meds very good.

Last year it was 60% of the time bottom 24% top, Bp good, bpm 75 which is good.

I'm a fairly healthy 75yr old considering , perhaps a silly question what does a guy like me do and what should I expect will happen in the future. All indications are I will continue to use my PM more and more as I get older.

Thank you.

pacing

If you feel good, don't worry about the numbers. Working out may increase pacing a bit, but probably not as much as you'd expect because an hour a day is still only 1/24, or less than 5%. Working out will help you live longer, so the benefits far outweigh any potential negatives. Does your doctor keep track of your ejection fraction? That's how they judge function, the percentage of blood that the heart pumps out in a beat. It's possible that ventricular pacing can eventually cause this number to drop, however many of us pace every beat, and have for many years (20+ for me), and our EF is still the same. Stay as fit as you can and don't stress over the rest.

numbers

HI, I just had my PM implanted 6 days ago. They told me after 6 weeks I can resume exercise which in my case is ballroom dance.

I am wondering what do you feel if the leads move and if the heart rate increases normally during physical activity?

Thank you

Yes Ballroom Dance is very good and healthy as well. I have always worked out fairly hard, enough for a decent sweat which I never sweat other then when I w/o. A PM does change u and one must make adjustments in terms of the amount of exercise you do. In early recovery I took my time, longer then needed for my recovery, however, if your body is acclimated to exercise it recovers very soon and you feel yourself returning to familiar body stamina etc. However, you must be deligent and not force yourself or allow your dance partner to over do it. I'm a man,  I did pre PM lefts with heavy weights, however, today I do more repetitions with lighter weights.  My legs are ok and stomach six pac too for a little more exercise.

You know you're wired when...

Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
