The incident of having your heart punctured during the implant of the PM may contribute to your feeling sick and worried. It's a rare complication but quite possible, the danger is the hemorrhage that fills the pericardium ( the sac that envelopes the heart). You were lucky that the collected blood was drained and that you did not develop an infection (pericarditis). To make matters worse you developed an upper respiratory infection. When you have asthma and an infection, the bronchi swell and become narrow making difficult the passage if air. That causes shortness of breath, when the infection goes away, your breathing will improve. The PM has nothing to do with your shortness of breath. I wish you a happy recovery from now on without anymore complications.
