Heart had 6 sec pauses going in for adjustment

 I have an appointment with the pacemaker clinic tomorrow at 10 AM as I've been calling them off the hook. Yesterday while in clinic they caught my heart stopping for six second.  My pacemaker when It goes off it causes extreme pain and makes my BP go 115/100.  The lady at the pacemaker clinic told me my settings are for 60 and that there's no way that my heart is stopping but I told her the cardiologist has the paper in his pocket that proves my heart is stopping that's when she said oh I think it's time you come in for another adjustment. Can someone give me advice as to what kind of questions I should ask while in there for the adjustment like what kind of setting I should get?  Thanks All

I think my first question would be why is it stopping and get a good understanding of the degree of significance.  some short pauses mean nothing serious at all,  other types of pauses MAY be significant.  Get the doctors take on how  concerning this is or is it just an adjustment and all will be well.  Ive had much longer pauses and as long as you dont lose consciousness, it seems to be okay.  also ask if the doctor expects it to correct itself or do you need to head to ER.   we are all so very different, even with the same problems.

 My pacing wire became fractured, and my pacemaker dependant heart stopped for 43 seconds.

The fracture was undetected by the equipment, so took a while to deduce.

If you have been doing lots of 'extreme upper arm movements' this may be worth investigating.

I second Robin, it's time to find another practice that won't give you the runaround. You don't want to ask questions in the clinic, you want to talk directly to the doctor. There is absolutely no reason your heart should pause if your pacemaker is working which means ask what condition your leads are in.

I had a new box fitted in May. Not long after started with dizzy spells. Technicians at check up said pacemaker was fine. Fainted twice in half an hour so went to A&E.  They admitted me for telemetry and managed to record a six second pause after a dizzy spell. The vt lead had become dislodged and required replacing.
