Normal for one week out?

I am a 56 year old woman, and am a week with my pacemaker. I am still very low energy, and have pain across the upper part of my chest, especially when laying down. The good news is I have not experienced any of the lightheaded or fainting spells that precipitated the PM, so I am glad for that. My questions are: is it normal to feel the PM 'kicking in', how long does it take to be able to sleep in bed normally, and when should I be able to expect a return to a normal level of energy?

Welcome.  Usually at your first ceckup pm settings will be adjusted based on the recorded data from your pm.  Do  tell the doc what you are feeling. Right now give your body tine to heal and adjust to the pm.  Do gently move your arm and shoulder.

Glad you are feeling better.

I'm 3 weeks post surgery. I totally understand how you feel.

I agree with TBrous&Chip - let your doctor know what you are feeling at your follow up appointment.

It took me about 2 weeks before I could lay in bed at all. I'm just now able to lay on both sides but I have a throw pillow under my arm which keeps me from moving my arm too much. I still get some discomfort but its much better than it was early on.

Here's to a healthier you!

I've had my pm for 17 days.  I am now able to sleep on my right side. I started with a big pillow but now use a small pillow to keep my left arm from rolling too far forward. Each night seems a little better.  I'm encouraged about that. I hope you see steady improvement,  too.
