Aches and pains one year on, is this normal?

Recently I've been having shoulder pains within and around the area where my pacemaker sits. I was fitted last year and after some obvious pain during healing my doctor said that everything was fine. But as of the past month I've been having aches and pains within my shoulder and around the collar bone and what feels like behind the area of the device. I would like to know if anyone else had or is having issues like these and if it is just something I have to get used to, thankyou in advance.

If you are geting a lot of pain I would say to call your doctor. If nothing else, it will give you peace of mind if everything is okay.

Pacemaker or something else?

I would never advise anyone to ignore a pain, but I would point out that there are lots of muscles, ligaments, bones and connective tissue in that area of the body that the pain could come from in addition to the pacemaker.

When people complain of shoulder pain, with no sign of infection, my first thought is frozen shoulder. Some people are way too consciencious about wearing a sling and not moving their arm. Then they continue to baby the area a lot longer than they need to. The result is a painful shoulder.

You've been fine for a year. If you didn't have a pacemaker, what would you think caused the pain?  Be sure to consider that too.

Since I got my pacemaker, I don't pass out anymore! That's a blessing in itself.
