Life Vest

I had a cardioversion about two weeks ago but seems like it didn't help and now having issues with VT.  The Dr has mentioned in the past about an upgrade to an ICD (third device in 5 years) but had an MRI today and seems to be talk of Life Vest.  Not really liking this option and as most reviews on it are less than "good".

Does anyone have any experience with it, good or bad?

Life Vest

are you kidding me? A life vest, don't know why they call them vests since they're more like a halter top, is a piece of high fashion designer attire to impress your friends and entertain. That black bag with flashing red lights hanging off your shoulder and bouncing on your hip can clear a room in a heart beat...just walk into the ER and shout don't anybody move, and you'll jump to the head of the line, ort want to get out of a restaurant without paying...flash your equipment and they'll be running.

You do know a life vest is a temporary piece of equipment used as insurance to protect you until a permanent device is implanted or they decide you really didn't need it? I wore one for 4.5 months while an infection was healing and enjoyed every minute, especially when the voice speaks up at the most inopportune times like 2am to announce you are about to receive a Jesus Jolt.

Enjoy it and stop looking at the negatives in life.

Haha!!  Well thank you for that, makes me even more thankful that we are not going down that road- looks like it will be an ICD   Upgrade.

Jesus Jolts

I dubbed them Jesus Jolts years ago because when you get a jolt you jump, shout Jesus and it's all over. Frankly I think it's more accurate than the term "Therapy" that the manufacturer's use. Lots of people call them Jesus Jolts, don't know why you shouldn't...feel free

I wore one for 5 1/2 months.  Scary to have wear such a device, but rationally  I knew I must.  Also had someone with or near me 24/7.  Had 2 events that triggered the alarm.  I was able to shut it off in time.  Have never been shocked.  Both times, I called the company to download and send results to my cardiologist to review.  Subsequently had 2 echos and 1 MRI finding that I needed a permanent ICD that was installed.

The Life Vest did what it was supposed to do.  Not comfortable to wear.  Be sure to wear a fresh (washed) halter daily.  Get two halters to switch them out.  I did get irritations under the halter and pads, used a prescription ointment over the irritated areas.  If you get sweaty, change the halter.  Also slightly repositioned how I wore it.  Not fun to sleep with, so I laid it on a pillow and slept on one side the whole time.  Change the battery daily.  It was there for me giving me the physical and mental assurance that I needed.  Overall, it served me well.
