Pacemaker gone/Loop recorder in

I had my surgery yesterday to remove my pacemaker and leads that were implanted 3/24/2017. I was one extremely rare case where I got a pacemaker I didn't need. I was taking bystolic for 7 years for heart flutters and over time , in addition to me losing 45lbs, the bystolic lowered my heart rate. My cardiologist and EP both knew I was taking Bystolic, the cardiologist had prescribed it. They should have taken me off it before the PM surgery. If they had, I never would have gotten the PM. I was so sick after getting my PM, anxiety through the roof, pacemaker syndrome-my cardiologist wanted the settings on the PM adjusted and the EP refused....just a nightmare!

Long story short, new EP and cardiologist and yesterday my PM  and leads were removed. I'm home now, feeling great (except for the pain from the surgery) and resting and icing my shoulder. My heart still flutters which is why I have the loop recorder now. I know the journey to health isn't over yet but I feel like I am on the right path!

Why...

If everyone is so sure that you never needed a pacemaker, then why was it necessary to implant a loop recorder?

Why?

because I have still have the random flutters. It was my choice to have it. The PTSD that I acquired due to the negligence of my previous doctors made me think that it would be better to stay on top of things. This way, if I feel something questionable, the loop recorder will record the event and I wont have to go to the doctor, tell him about it, wear a monitor and hope that it can record a similar event in the time I'm wearing the monitor. Does that make sense? I could have kept the pacemaker and just used it as a heart monitor but my former EP put the lead in the wrong place plus the pacemaker kept pinching me.
