Skin disorder

I have had my pacemaker since Jan. of 2016. Approximately 5 months ago, I began to notice a skin condition under my left breast running from my left back side flank, under the left breast and running on around the underneath breast area and up the front stopping at about mid cleavage. This skin condition soon became more prevelant. It is only on the left side. It made me wonder if this be some sort of a risidule effect from the metal from the pacemaker. Sounds crazy.  I have no other skin condition like this on my body. Some of the presentations are thick, brownish patches while some are just bumps. There is no breakage in the skin, no oozing, no itching, no pain. Just this stream of very bumpy, unattractive presentation running in the said area.

I have applied retinol lotion, as well as Loreal Reviva Lift alpha hydroxy acid almost daily. No change. Not sure if it going to spread in time but seems to be staying the same.

Has anyone with a pacemaker ever had anything like this?

See a dermatologist

You need to see a dermatologist. Although it is rare, it is not unknown for people to be allergic to any one of the components which makes up a PM . It could be titanium, silicone, epoxy resins etc causing the problem.

Usually an allergic reaction would occur soon after implant but anything is possible.  In terms of treatment to alleviate the symptoms I imagine a topical steroid such as hydrocortisone would be your best bet,.

Chances are that it is nothing at all to do with the pacemaker  !!

Seeing a dermatologist who would probably do patch tests to help find the cause is probably your best course of action.

Best of luck

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
