I have a Cardio Messenger Smart 30 by Biotronik, which downloads my pacemaker information every night. Usually I sleep through it, but if I am awake, I get weird symptoms - rapid breathing, palpitations, etc. For a few minutes, then done. Anyone else have this fiendish device and having symptoms?

Wakes me up every night at 1am

I have been waking up just about every night at 1am ever since I had my PM placed last Jan 17. I finally found out why I was waking up in full panic mode almost every night, my Medtronic PM runs a test once every 24hrs. It feels like I'm going to die! I kept telling my Dr and tech what was happening to me every night, but they didn't have a clue what it could be. I finally went to see different card and his tech told me that my PM runs a test every 24hrs just like the one the tech does every time I see him to check the system. The test the tech runs on me feels like I'm going to die just like my nightly test. The tech turned off the nightly testing function today and said if all is well, I'll see you again in 6 months for your regular check up.
I'll do a follow up comment in a couple of days and let you know if this worked!

They did the same thing for me today - turned off an unnecessary test of the lower lead, and they say the awful symptoms will stop. Phew. Good lock to you as well!

It's normal to feel it when it checks in,that's why they try to program it for when we are asleep. Ask if they can set it to do it less often. If you are stable, daily shouldn't be necessary.
