Struggling

Hi I have just joined pacemaker club as have been struggling and any questions I type into a search engine seem to take me to this club : ) I had my biotronik dual valve pacemaker put in 8 days ago and have been feeling really tearful for the last four day, still have a dizzyness and very tired, have managed to cut down painkillers during day but so painful at night, which seems to be positional and can't lie in any one position for too long. I was diagnosed with heart block and it was felt safer to implant device but they were not confident it would improve dizzyness so I am really worried in case that is not going to go or is it too early to tell on day 8 after surgery.? Hope i have posted this in right place as new to all this online posting as well, thanks in advance

When I received my pacemaker I had been in complete block and heart failure. It took a while to recover. After getting the PM I  remember being in a store and having trouble paying because I could not get the coins correct.  It cleared up in a few weeks.

You have come to the right place; we are ALL here for you

Gosh, I feel your pain. Please feel free to read my profile and do update yours so we know from which country you are. I am 14 days post op for a three wired CRT-D except it took them 6 wires in order to find three that worked. But more on that at a later date when I’m ready to share. Back to you.

Your pain is real and it is distressing, as is dragging yourself around the next day. IT WILL GET BETTER and soon.

What I found helpful was, before getting into bed, positioning the pillows for my head as I wanted, then placed an extra one at a 90 degree angle like an upsidedown L. I would lie a little bit on my right side then gently flop onto the extra pillow so supporting my back and the affected arm.  I found it SO comforting. It did take a bit of jiggling around to get my back, neck, arm etc etc in the right position but I felt all cocooned like a pupa!

We want to rush healing but, you know what? The body doesn’t. It wants to do a good job, so let it. Ask for help, cry, rest, cry, eat as many healthy foods as you can stomach, cry and.....rest. Keep telling yourself this is the best thing that has ever happened as it gives us all a second chance to a productive life. We must celebrate this time we live in and how truely lucky we are to have this chance. We are the chosen few!

Housework will wait for you. You can do it next month. And please post again if/when you are feeling low and need a shoulder.

Or for that matter, do tell us when your cloud has lifted and the sun is shinning. This site is THE best!!! Sending love from South West England ðŸ’•ðŸ’•ðŸ’•

Thank you for responses

Curiously Robin1, I have taken 2 cave tours since getting my pacemaker installed and of course it is very dark inside the caves with just certain formations lit up.  I have noticed a bit of disorientation while trying to walk inside the darkened caves and wondering what was going on... Strange feeling..
