Pvc's

Good morning pacers! Wondering has anyone had a lot of pvc's after getting a pacemaker? I have always had some pvc's but since I got my pacemaker Iam having one right after the other. Went to see the cardiologist yesterday. put me on medication, just not working out only made them worse. Just wondering is this normal.

PVCs and other fun stuff

I had PVCs both before and after the pacemaker.

Your bio doesn't say when you got your pacemaker, or the diagnosis.Since the answer might change depending on when or why, I think you might get more useful replies if we had that information

I'm wondering too!?....

Hi Lilly,

I've been wondering about this too....i got my 2 lead Boston Scientific ICD October 27th this year and this week I've been getting PVCs nearly round the clock.  I used to get them on and off, only for short runs, pre-device.  Although my rate isn't fast it feels so uncomfortable and fluttery/irregular.  I also got my ICD after being diagnosed with Polymorphic VT as well as sinus pauses so naturally I worry that these PVCs might lead to an arrythmia.   If it's any consolation, I went back to hospital earlier this week as I originally thought my device was pacing me constantly. During my device check the nurse reassured me that it was in fact my heart throwing out regular PVCs and I wasn't to worry.  I was however getting lots of ventricular paced beats (which I felt as "jolts" as if I had touched an electric fence and these were really unpleasant).  The nurse reduced the voltage of the ventricular pacing and this has made a huge difference for me for the better.  The cardiologist also increased my betablocker which he said can help reduce the frequency of ectopic beats.

Its worth being aware too that being emotional or stressed can bring on PVCs as can stimulants such as coffee...I'm very stressed lately but I'm trying my best to calm myself, as well as reducing my mugs of tea!!  Many people here seem to say "go easy and be kind to yourself"... It's so true!  I think there's this sense of urgency sometimes to "get back to normal" (whatever that may be!) after getting these devices but, as I'm starting to slowly realise, it's not about getting BACK to normal (for me anyway) it's about creating a NEW normal.....seeking reassurance, advice and sometimes device adjustments is perfectly justified & reasonable.

Best of luck and I hope you get them sorted as I know how distracting they can be.
