Anyone with neurocardiogenic syncope

Hello! I have neurocardiogenic syncope. I have had it sense i was 5 and got my pacemaker at 20 years of age because i was misdiagnosed with epilepsy for 15 years. While I am very happy that my heart doesnt flatline anymore i still get sick on a daily basis, ( near fainting, weak, shakey, heat flashes, cold sweats, dizzy, light headed, nausea, blurry vision, and more unexplainable symptoms.) I also have a anxiety and panic disorder and depression. I know they aggravate syncope but also i will have syncopal episodes for other reasons or no reason at all. I get overwhelmed and stressed out very easily and i don't know if syncope is the cause or not. Even Sounds are too loud, and lights are too bright sometimes. I am wondering if anyone with neurocardiogenic syncope feels the same way? I have no one to talk to, my friends don't understand and my family trys to but i understand that they don't feel it so they dont know. I am a fighter and i do stay as positive as I can but it would be very nice to relate with someone who has what i have. Im so happy i found this site.

NCS

Youngish person with NCS. I was misdiagnosed with mild epilepsy too. I can totally understand your frustration. My personal opinion is that NCS brings on anxiety. The constant feeling that something is wrong with you, feeling faint, etc. is anxiety producing. Worrying about fainting in public is anxiety producing a etc. And I used to think anxiety could also make NCS worse. Now I'm not so sure

My advice: make sure you treat your physical health and mental health with equal effort.  Work on hydration as hard as you work on your stress.  If you attack both the physical and mental aspect of NCS you will succeed.

Anxiety

My problem with anxiety and panic attacks is that I have had it as long as i can remember. I found out that it was a strong suit on my italian side of the family. My dad and my brother both have it as well. I have been to therapy with no avail, working out didnt make a difference in my anxiety levels. My doctors have put me on medications, i dont like relying on medications but it seems to help a little bit. I know that i can stay positive and that I do have some good days. Its nice to have advice knowing that this is something to deal with for the reat of your life, ya know? Its just nice to have a conversation with someone who gets it.

Do B Vitamins help?

by laughingarcher - 2017-12-06 02:11:37

I don't have NCS, but I've been working on anxiety issues lately and have learned a lot about how important the B vitamins are to keeping our neurotransmitters (serotonin, melatonin, etc.) balanced.  If we're low on B3 (niacin) or especially B6, the serotonin pathway can get way out of whack, leading to anxiety and/or depression.  Once I started taking B3 and B6, my internal tremors and anxiety seem to have gotten better.  Again, I don't have NCS and I certainly don't mean to minimize what must be a very hard thing to live with, just hoping this might help you!

Not minimizing at all!

Any advice is great! You aren't minimizing it at all! I will definitely look into getting some b vitamins and see if it helps the anxiety and depression at all. If I could cancle out one or better yet both that would make living with ncs a lot better, even if I still felt the symptoms of ncs at least it wouldnt be all piled on each other! Thank you
