Skipped beats

Hi everyone,

I just wondered if anyone could help me with a problem I've never seen on here before.

When I crouch down and bend over e.g. when looking under something, or cleaning the floor, my heart pauses. It feels like it's skipping a beat and doesn't do it any other time.

I've had my pacemaker (for heart block) since January and have had many settings problems but I'm worried that this is more of a placement issue as it only happens in those positions. My pacemaker is under my collar bone, so it seems strange that bending down would bother it.

I'm going to mention it next time I go for a check up but I just wondered if anyone could shed any light on it for me please?

you must be a woman if you are bending down cleaning a floor. don't mind me i am just tired and i am not really funny. so i have had a skipped beat or two and my cardiologist said it is because my heart takes over then and knocks the pacemaker out for that beat. so hope this helps but every case is different jessie

Me too!

I am very interested in your comments and question as I suffer from very similar symptoms.
I had a pacer placed last November ( also for heart block) and started to experience a strange sensation in my chest when bending over. It is almost like having a fright or anxiety attack ( adrenaline rush) for the want of a better description. I can almost say this would happen every time I bend in half!
My next appointment with my technician is still 2 months away and would be very interested in any comments prior to then if anyone has more info. I 'll let you all know what the tech. has to say after my appointment.

Happy beating! Helen

Thank you

Thanks everyone for your replies. Yes Jessie, you're right - I am a woman! I guess it's not just my boyfriend who doesn't do housework!

The symptoms feel very much like the ones you describe Helen - very strange! I will keep you posted if I find out what's causing it...

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
