Chest pain

Hi

I had a micra (leadless pace maker) fitted 3 months ago. I've been back at the gym exercising for a few weeks now but done a difficult class this morning with a lot of jumping around. For the last hour or so I've been getting chest pains on and off, nothing to painful, and what I think are palpataions and a lump feeling in my throat and a warm feeling in my chest.

Any advice? Can these pacemakers move around?

Thanks

I also did a class at the gym this morning with lots of jumping around . The best part was when it finished !

The easy question first :-   A pacemaker shouldn't move around . There are slots in the pacemaker casing which are deliberately put there to suture the PM firmly in place BUT it is not unknown for Drs to forget to do that . Why do you ask ?

Chest pain is not usually a symptom related to a PM implant .It is more commonly associated with heart plumbing , rather than electrical problems. It is probably nothing serious but if I were you I would seek medical advice and hopefully discount the possibility of it being a mild angina.  You should never ignore chest pain.

Best of luck to continued jumping around in the future.

Hi Ian

Thank you for your reply. Very reassuring to hear it's unlikely for pacemakers to move around, sounds silly but I thought with all the jumping around it could've moved causing the pain. I've had no more pain since I posted this so I'll see how it goes.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply

Hydration

My doc loves for me to hit the gym and treadmill but always says to hydrate up before working out. I do notice that I get chest pains if I don't drink enough. Hope this helps.
